Today, on February 2, the whole world celebrates an important date - the Ground-hog Day. This holiday came to us from the United States and Canada, where it has more than one hundred years of tradition, since it was officially recognized in 1886.
The main character of this holiday is aground-hog - a cute rodent that goes into hibernation for the whole winter and has to climb out of the hole on February 2nd. According to the belief, if on this day there is a gloomy and dull weather, the animal, having emerged from its hole, does not see its own shadow, does not frighten and does not return to its home, proclaiming the early arrival of spring.
It is pleasant to note that students and staff of Sumy National Agrarian University have an opportunity to learn the spring prophecy "firsthand", because our university has its own ground-hog, which is kept in vivarium! So having talked today to funny Phill, we realized that it's time to prepare for spring, because this year it will be early!
